It's May and close to 90 degrees at 8:30 am. This woman is serving the traditional breakfast meal, a steaming hot noodle soup called Pho.
It is impossible to tell her age. As is customary, she is covered from head to toe to avoid the sun - a suntan is considered pedestrian. She must have taken the family ducks out for a swim.
As we stopped to buy a lunch of freshly caught crab, this young boy in Ha Long Bay jumped aboard our boat to say hi. My Vietnamese was bad, but I managed to get his parents okay for this quick picture.
Madonna Rock is a favorite spot of dive vessels out of Nha Trang. The water is crystal clear and about 80 degrees.
Not sure how long she has been there. The church behind her is closed and the doors are sealed, but she stands there in the center of the city, seeming some how out of place.
Ha Long Bay is a magical place. The limestone islands soar over the green water. An occasional fishing boat is a welcome justaposition to the convoys of sightseeing vessels.
The temple is comfortably hidden behind the old wall at the base of the Perfume Pagoda.
